We are proud that Corewell Health hospitals continue to be recognized for excellence in quality, safety and care — including earning Magnet Recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center at seven of our East hospitals.
Today, the Teamsters presented their first draft of a staffing proposal. We spent several hours reviewing the 12-page document and have identified a number of questions and concerns. Many of the provisions would significantly alter hospital operations and limit Corewell Health’s ability to adjust staffing to meet patient needs. We will need time to carefully evaluate it.
Our staffing decisions are guided by national benchmarks and best practices, with safety as our highest priority. We know our care teams rely on flexibility to support safe, effective patient care. This requires considering individual patients’ needs and acuity, the clinical skills of the care team, and many additional factors.
We will conduct a thorough review of the proposal and remain committed to engaging in good-faith dialogue as bargaining moves forward. We also expect to receive the Teamsters’ full economic proposal soon, along with responses to several other proposals.
