We finished our third bargaining session with the Teamsters on July 24 and have two important updates to share.
Pay Increase, Bonus and 403(b) Match
We are happy to provide 2025 pay increases and benefits to our hardworking nurses following an agreement we reached with the Teamsters last night.
Since February, we have been waiting for the Teamsters to present a full 2025 economic proposal. During this week’s negotiations, the Teamsters confirmed that their 2025 economic proposal was for nurses to receive the same pay increases and incentives provided to non-represented team members. Corewell Health promptly agreed to provide the 2025 pay increases and enhancements to all eligible nurses that non-union team members already received.
All the economic enhancements will be retroactive to the date non-union team members received them. This includes:
- the annual pay increase
- shift premium increases
- the 403(b) contribution match
- the Special Appreciation Bonus
We will also provide a discretionary market increase to our APPs in the bargaining unit. We are so pleased this issue is resolved and will implement these benefits soon.
Unpaid Leave for Negotiations
The Teamsters also proposed that Corewell Health allow bargaining committee members the option to take unpaid leave for negotiations but still accrue PTO while on unpaid leave. We declined this proposal. We value the committee’s participation and input in the process and will work with them to accommodate their schedules whenever possible. Our position is consistent with our policies which require team members to use paid time off when they are absent for personal reasons, and we don’t intend to deviate from our policy.
Other Proposals
The union provided its response to the contract language proposals that Corewell Health gave the union during the first bargaining session on June 24. The union also provided five additional proposals on seniority, jury duty, bereavement leave, the terms of new employees’ probationary periods, and definitions for employment status. We agreed to provide our response to these proposals when we meet again with the union on August 6.
Finally, we agreed to three additional bargaining dates, bringing the total bargaining sessions in 2025 to 17.
We are looking forward to our next bargaining dates and to continuing our dialogue as we work toward reaching an agreement.
